Installation on UNIX

Instructions on installing STS for users running a UNIX/Linux operating system.

  1. Download and install the J2SE Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 5.0 or later. The JRE is available for no charge from Sun Microsystems here.

  2. Download and extract the latest sts-unix.tar.gz file.

  3. NOTE: "<STS_HOME>" denotes the pathname of the "Starboard Tack Scoring" directory extracted from the sts-unix.tar.gz file.

  4. Make sure that the 'java' program (version 5.0 or later) is in your PATH, or edit the <STS_HOME>/bin/setup.sh file to point to the correct java executable.

  5. Run <STS_HOME>/bin/setup.sh, select "Hypersonic SQL", and click OK.

  6. Run <STS_HOME>/bin/sts.sh to invoke the Starboard Tack Scoring application.
